Renewable Energy Is It Worth It?

Save the planet! Renewable Energy! Go Green! Use solar! All these statements are thrown around the world today

, but what do they really mean and is it useful? Are solar panels and water tanks really worth it?

Alternative energy is about creating renewable energy from different sources such as wood, water, wind or the sun. With prices of electricity going through the roof lately I thought I would investigate. And thats when I wondered, is alternative energy really the answer?

What if I could power my whole house, just from the sun? Simply by installing solar panels on the roof of my house would mean I no longer have to pay the electricity companies money month after month. Plus I'm helping the environment!

After researching this, I found that I loved the monthly savings that it would bring, but just couldnt afford the up front costs of having solar panels installed on my roof. With most small systems costing a minimum of $3000 and larger systems over $10,000, the price was clearly out of my reach (and most peoples). If only I could make my own solar panels. After much research I found out that making your own sun collectors isnt has hard as people think.

Now after a couple of months and minimal investment, I am now powering over 70% of my home from my own solar panels. Excited by this, I have branched out into other renewable energy sources such as water.

I have now installed water tanks which catch large amounts of water from my roof and I have feed it through my water sprinkler system. Now I have enough water to keep my garden in great shape without even having to pay for it.

So is renewable energy really the answer absolutely. By finding ways to recycle what the earth is already is giving us, I have been able to power almost my entire home and keep my garden looking like its Spring all year round Best of all, it didnt come with the hefty price tag and it is saving me hundreds of dollars every month in utility costs.

I would recommend getting on board with renewable energy, its fun, efficient and best of all, if done correctly, is friendly to the hip pocket.
