Teaching in the 21st century is a role that is without question a fine balancing act. No longer does it simply involve being a teacher, it's as much about politics as it is about education: paper work and admin, continually keeping on top of the ever-changing technology landscape, sticking to a curriculum and maintaining the order of a large class of up to thirty kids - it's no mean feat. Add to that the challenges of keeping picky parents happy and ensuring rigorous targets are met and you have one delicate assembly of precious plates to spin.

With all of these extracurricular activities taking up a significant portion of the 51 and a half hours a UK teacher works on average each week*, where do they find the time and energy to actually do what they studied four years and became teachers to do teach? It's a fine balance, the role of today's teacher, and with the ever-decreasing time that's left to do what one loves best preparing and teaching excellent lessons that really inspire, educate and improve the lives of the kids in the class the limitless resources available should be taken advantage of to help them fulfil their passion in teaching.
