Ricky Rubio now ready to invade NBA after impressive showing in Spain's loss to US squad 86-85

Spanish basketball star Ricky Rubio has shown the world that he is now ready to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA)

. This developed after Rubio was impressive in Spain's 85-86 loss against the US squad in their exhibition game in preparation for the World Basketball Championship in Turkey. In the game, the 19-year-old point-guard scored seven points and had three assists for Spain who almost defeated the stars laden US squad in their game in Madrid, Spain. Rubio was a head turner in the game as he made brilliant passes and scored crucial points for Spain in the game. In one instance in the game, Rubio made a stutter-step into the lane drew defensive attention and allowed him to feed Felipe Reyes for an easy lay-in for Spain's first lead of the game with 90 seconds to play. The entry of Rubio in the first half helped energize a flagging Spanish side that was in danger of falling far behind after trailing 16-3. He helped rally Spain to within 23-16 and drew gasps after providing an over-the-head, no-look backhanded alley-oop chance that center Fran Vazquez missed in the second period. The great performance of Rubio drew praises from some of the US team members including head coach Mike Krzyzewski who predicted that he will become one of the top point-guards in the NBA in the future. Krzyzewski said Rubio is a pass first point-guard who can grew in the NBA. The US coach said the Spanish point-guard also has a decent outside shot which could make him a reliable point-guard in the NBA. US silky smooth forward and Oklahoma Thunder main man Kevin Durant for his part said Rubio is a great defender and great passer which made him now ready to play in the top professional basketball league in the planet. Chicago Bulls young point-guard Derrick Rose is also himself impressed with Rubio saying he is now ready to invade the NBA with the way he performed in their game. Rubio is expected to move to the NBA after playing one more season at Barcelona, with the Minnesota Timberwolves having taken him with their 2009 first-round pick.
