Since times immemorial, the education sector in India has undergone drastic changes

. Starting from the subjects taught at schools to teaching methods, every aspect related to education sector has undergone sea changes for the bright future of students. Out of many recent changes introduced in the education sector, the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching-learning methods remains the topic of prime importance. From schools to top engineering colleges, educationists are striving to integrate technology at all levels of education. Gladly, they have been successful in their endeavor so far but still lots need to be done to remove the loopholes from the Indian education system.

While many educationists advocate the use of Information and Communication Technology in the education system, there are many who beg to differ. As a result, educationists and curriculum frame workers were unable to decide the extent to which technology should interfere with the conventional education system. Following long discussions, polls and teacher-learner interactions; decision was taken to incorporate technology with education. The incorporation of ICT was a milestone in the history of Indian education system and would be remembered in the years to come.

Integration of technology and education made the latter a dynamic area. Now, students studying in engineering colleges in Haryana and other states of the country do not have to refer to a fixed set of books. Rather, they can take help of smart devices like phones, tablets and laptops to learn latest trends prevailing in the industries. Learning latest trends not only helps in keeping knowledge up-to-date but also makes students industry-ready. Introduction of technological devices in schools and colleges has made the process of teaching-learning interesting thereby stimulating students to learn more. Also, these technologically advanced teaching methods persuade students to think more and thus result in development of cognitive and conative skills.

Use of Information & Communication Technology in the education sector is doubtlessly advantageous in many respects. Despite knowing this fact, many educational institutions are still not practicing this technique. Thus, it is a challenge for the educationists to educate teachers and students about the advantages of technology and persuade them to use it more often. Apart from spreading awareness, authorities should raise funds for making educational institutions well-equipped. Required infrastructure should be installed in all the private and government institutions to deliver quality education to the youth of the nation.


It is still a long way to go but can be achieved with proper planning and dedication.
