Ron Carter Chevrolet's Tips for Avoiding Vehicle Theft
Ron Carter Chevrolet's Tips for Avoiding Vehicle Theft
Vehicle theft is on the rise around the country and Houston's Ron Carter dealership wants drivers to take the precautions necessary to keep their Chevrolets safe. A lot of what prevents becoming a victim involves driver common sense.
Here are some simple safety tips to ensure your Houston Chevrolet doesn't go anywhere hout you:
Watch Where You Park
When you go shopping or need to park in a crowded place, a theft can easily take advantage of vehicles parked outside the regular crowds. If you tend to park farther away from your destination to get a little exercise or to prevent damage to your car, you might want to think twice. Experienced thieves will go for vehicles left unattended in areas other people can't easily see. Park instead in a space close to where you will be. Make sure it is a well-lit area if you plan to leave when it is dark.
Keep Valuables Safe at Home
If you tend to carry a lot of your personal items in your vehicle, you are putting yourself at risk for having your Chevrolet's windows smashed out in an attempt to steal the items, not to mention the risk of having your vehicle stolen once access has been gained into your car.
Double-Check Your Safety Measures
In a rush it can be easy to forget simple things like locking the doors and ensuring the windows are rolled up tight. Make a habit of rechecking that you have done what we need to do before placing your keys in your purse or pocket.
Forget the Benefit of the Doubt
Even if you are just running into the Post Office for a couple of stamps, you should make sure you turn off your car and take the keys with you. Too often people who are comfortable in an environment forget to stay on their toes. They will give society the benefit of the doubt for the few minutes they must run an errand, assuming no harm will come. But it only takes a few seconds for an experienced thief to open a car door and drive off in your vehicle.
