Round coffee tables can add a unique perspective to an otherwise formal or crowded looking living room

. If you think about it, a round table in general has been symbolic throughout history. How about the knights of Camelot? That infamous round table has been the center of many of blockbuster movies. Sure, a round coffee table of that size probably isn't necessary for an average living space, but it is still worth mentioning for the sake that they have been remarkable centerpieces for many years now. Yet, people still shy away from them like it might ruin the conformity of their living areas. But that is just not the case.

A round coffee table can be a lot more versatile than most people would give it credit for. This versatility doesn't come at the expense of appeal either. Round coffee tables can be very classy and can certainly add that unique dash of style that is hard to describe. So many people tend to stick with the tried and true square or rectangular features. And there's nothing wrong with that. But for those that do venture into the exciting territory of a round coffee table will see the benefits almost immediately.

More space is one of those that will immediately be identifiable. If the table is in the sitting area, which is most likely, you'll see that the walkways will flow much smoother around this type of table. Not to mention, with a square or rectangle one, it will often consume a much bigger area anyway. But if you stop to think about it, how much of that table do you actually use? By having a round coffee table, it's not only more practical, but also more ergonomically friendly to the sitting area.

Another good thing to consider, and surely you can relate, is how often those corners can bruise up a shin. Those pain dealers can be absolutely brutal. One would think when you get older you'll become more aware of them. But they still attack when you least expect it. You don't have those problems with round coffee tables. We know that kids can get pretty rowdy as well. So this also adds a little bit of a safety comfort level knowing that they're less likely to smash into one of those hard corners while horsing around. Which has to be one of a parent's worst nightmare scenarios.

Of course the several styles and sizes run the gamut here. From modern, to contemporary, to even tiki designs; there is certain to be a style that fits nicely within the decor of any living room. Some have cushions to be dubbed as a foot rest. Others may have hidden compartments that can hold party platters on game day. The preferences are limited only by the imagination.

Like with anything else, the craftsmanship will vary between different manufacturers. So it's a good idea to fully inspect the table before purchasing. If it is made from wood, look for rough spots that weren't properly sanded; or splintered areas that will not only be an eye sore but could also be a sore in the hand if you're not careful.

All in all, these tables are a great alternative to the norm. They offer style and practicality to an otherwise boring room. The round coffee tables generally make for a happier living room too.
