My runs were plods doing 10min miles

My runs were plods doing 10min miles. I spoke to the PSI at RMR and he said I should be running 3 miles in under 21mins. This was my new challenge. I started recording my times and doing just best effort runs, unfortunately my main run was only 2.84miles, so I had to make a calculation to round up my times. Each run on the road was still over the 10:30 times I needed, but my times were averaging 07:30min miles, just 30seconds of the pace needed to pass the PRMC. I was still training in the evenings, though I knew my training wasn't the intensity I needed. With my PT I tried the 3mile tread mill run, I passed it well inside the time, but this was without the incline. I tried it the following week with the incline and struggled coming in 30seconds over the time. The following PT sessions involved doing the 2nd run on the incline, which I completed well within time. Having spoken to one of the RMR lads they said to break the run into 3 x 800m intervals and aim to complete each one in 3:30. I used this mind set and this helped me through. From then the mental block I had was lifted and my training and fitness went up a gear. I started back to Kettle Bells twice a week. I missed one session and decided to do the PJFT complete. I gave it a go knowing I wanted to do it. I had had a run at lunch, so was slightly fatigued, but this wasn't going t stop me from doing.
