. Since SEO, or search engine optimization, is a job that can very easily be done with just a computer and an internet connection anybody from anywhere in the world can do it. Because of this, the market for SEO jobs is tight and the rate of hire varies in every region. SEO personnel can work in-house or through a digital marketing agency.

Search Marketing Director

If you are in this position, you will probably earn an annual income of about $100,000 to $350,000. The person in this position is the one in-charge of setting strategies as well as directions for companies with earnings that ranges $25MM to $1Bil or more. He or she has the ability to create huge gains or huge losses for companies.

Organic Search Director

This position pays $75,000 to $150,000 annually. The person in this position will take charge of the in-house teams of SEO personnel and will report directly to the VP or director of search marketing.

SEO Lead Expert or Guru

Receiving an annual salary of $50,000 to $100,000, the SEO Guru is the person responsible in running an SEO team. Teams can also be run by an independent contractor or freelancer especially for companies that have smaller earnings ranging from $5 to $50MM. These Gurus have the final say and are the ones responsible when it comes to the companys SEO activities. An SEO Lead or Guru may report directly to his or her director of marketing or VP for marketing. However, if a company does not have these levels the guru can report directly to the CEO or President.

Campaign Manager

A campaign manager can earn $35,000 to $100,000 annual salary. Reporting directly to the director, a campaign manager will manage teams that are focused to do specific campaign for a site, keyword set, and content area to name a few. Salaries of campaign managers can go six figures due to bonuses given if they were able to do excellent job.

SEO Specialist

The SEO specialist is the main worker on a team like a Boston Search Engine Optimization team. They may have other workers under them in some cases. They are the ones optimizing the page content, research keywords, build links, add contents, and more. They earn a salary of $25,000 to $85,000, depending on their duties and the company they word for. Some also work on a part time or a per project basis, for example being paid $500 to optimize a clients website for SEO purposes.
