Sales Recruitment Questions For Job Seekers To Ask

However, this is not the time for you to relax

. The questions that you do and do not ask can reveal a lot about you and how motivated you are for the job you have applied for. Keep in mind that your interviewer will be gauging your enthusiasm at this point, so when invited, indicate to the interviewer that you are really interested in the role and that you welcome the opportunity to ask a few questions.

Questions to avoid

Firstly, we will look at the questions you should avoid asking in your sales recruitment interview. Questions which focus on what you can get out of the organization, rather than what you can offer to it, should be avoided:

* What will my salary be?

* What kind of company car are you offering?

* How long will I have for lunch breaks?

* Will I get my own office?

I'm not a morning person, so is it OK to start work at 9:30 am instead of 9 am, and then finish work half an hour later?

Even though these questions may indeed be important to you, they are irrelevant unless you get the job. So avoid asking them during your sales recruitment interview and save them for when you are actually granted a genuine job offer.

Questions to ask

You need to ask questions which demonstrate your enthusiasm and commitment for the job and for the company you are applying to. If you are new to sales, you need to demonstrate how motivated you are to work in sales. Keep in mind however, that two to three questions are about the most you should be asking.

It is always a good idea to come prepared to your sales recruitment interview with sensible and intelligent questions you would like answered. You should know about what products and / or services you will be selling by this stage of the recruitment process, so it is probably best to avoid questions about them, except to gain clarification on what you should already know.

The questions you ask should indicate your enthusiasm for the job and the company, by focusing on questions relating to your long term commitment:

* How long do you expect your new sales cadets to come up to speed?

* What sales targets do you have for the role and when do these need to be achieved?

* What long term plans do you have for the role?

* What will be the top priority for this job in the next six months?

* When can I expect to hear from you?

This list of interview questions is not exhaustive. They are simply a guide to the type of questions you should be asking in your sales recruitment interview. A general rule of thumb is to think up your own questions which you genuinely want answers to. Keep in mind that your questions will have a dual purpose:

* To acquire any additional information you need

* To impress your interviewer with your intelligent and focused approach.

On a final note, it is advisable to prepare your answers well in advance of your sales recruitment interview, and practice them out loud with a friend or colleague, so that they come across as natural. The last thing you want to do is come across as overly apologetic, under confident or conversely, in an overly interrogative style!
