Salty or Fresh, Puerto Vallarta has Water

Puerto Vallarta is one watery world. You might notice this characteristic as your plane circles the city in preparation for landing (those who prefer to fly with their eyes tightly closed will notice it later, perhaps from the patio of their Puerto Vallarta luxury villa rental as they sip a relaxing beverage). Certainly, when you look out over the city from almost any relatively high vantage point, the water in Banderas Bay (that's the Pacific Ocean out there) will be staring you in the face. Sure, that salt water is all well and good, but there's more the city is surrounded by luxuriant jungle, and rivers run down out of the hills before they spill into the bay. If your Puerto Vallarta luxury villa rental sits high on a hillside, fresh water may be closer than you think. There are more than a few places where you'll encounter water of one sort or another.

You're all wet

Banderas Bay: This one's a no-brainer. It spreads out before you and fills the western horizon the bay is the reason many folks visit the city. You can't drink it, but you can do just about everything else in this salty water. Visitors enjoy all kinds of activities, including fishing, surfing, scuba and snorkeling, and sea kayaking. Rio Cuale: The Rio Cuale runs from the hills down to the bay, and in the process over the years, it has carved out an island that offers plenty of activity. For example, you can search for treasures among the little shops on the island. Or you can find a quiet spot in the sun and watch the island's iguanas make the most of a sunny day.

Dolphin Encounter. While you're in town, make it a point to visit the dolphins at Aquaventuras. You can actually climb into their saltwater tanks and share a swim. When you're finished, head over to the water slides and really get your heart rate up. Water hazards. That's right, if you're looking for an activity that includes a brush with fresh water, reserve a tee time at one of the championship golf courses in Puerto Vallarta. Test your skill against the ten water hazards (that's right, my friend ten!) at Marina Vallarta golf course. The Mayan Palace Country Club also offers a fair amount of fresh water. Or mix your waters and play the Four Seasons at Punta Mita, where one hole sits on an island offshore.
