A salvage yard is an area that is used for storing old or unwanted vehicles
. It is common for some of the cars that are stored to be used for their working parts. Many salvage yards are able to make a high profit by reselling parts from unused vehicles. Some companies display the automobile parts in rooms for prospective part buyers to view. Buyers normally include car or motorcycle manufacturers who will buy the parts and re-condition them to be re-used in other vehicles or motorcycles. The salvage yards may also sell the unusable parts as scrap metal to metal factories. These metals will then be processed by these factories to be used in other industries. A privately contracted wrecking company or a member of the salvage yard's wrecking crew brings a car to a salvage yard for a set price. Once the car is placed in storage it is stacked neatly in piles for possible future use. These uses may include as mentioned before the salvaging of parts and the use of unused metal for scraps. The parts are usually taken out by mechanics or workers at the salvage yard. The parts are taken to salvage yards so that they can separate the usable and un-usable parts. They remove the unneeded parts like the mirrors, headlights and windscreen wipers then parts like the engine and transmission. Once removed, they are most likely then sold to customers in need of parts. These parts are way more affordable than buying new parts from dealers or directly from manufacturers.
