Samsung's Shipments Of Smart Phones Exceeded Apple And Nokia In Q3
According to reports, in the third quarter of this year
, Samsung's smart phone shipments are more than 20 million units. This figure exceeded the market leader Apple's 17.1 million units and the world's largest mobile phone maker Nokia's 16.8 million units.
Samsung's success benefits from its promotion of high-end mobile phones. The consumers want to uses mobile phones to watch video, download movies and send messages. Their demand for these devices is increasing. Samsung also uses Google's increasingly popular Android system. It is also promoting mobile phones that are equipped with its own operating system and Microsoft's mobile operating system in Europe. Samsung officials did not disclose its smart phone shipments.
Samsung's smart phone sales increased significantly benefits from its good hardware design, advanced features, notable Android ecosystem and the extensive distribution network. It is expected that Samsung's global smart phone shipments in the third quarter are between 20 million to 30 million units.
Apple said earlier that by September 24, the company shipped 17.1 million units of smart phones in the fourth quarter. Nokia on Thursday said its smart phone shipments were 16.8 million units. Samsung's executive vice president of global product strategy said that Samsung has a wide range of strategies and it has cooperation with multiple software vendors.
While in 2009, Samsung introduced its own smart phone operating system, it is still working closely with Google to launch Galaxy S Series of mobile phones that are powered with Android system to challenge the existing smart phones. This series introduced an upgraded version in early April, Galaxy S II, equipped with a larger screen and the latest Google's Android system.
Samsung has also been selected as the first manufacturer that produced the Android 4.0 phone. The "reference model called Galaxy Nexus will have an impact on other handset manufacturers. Galaxy Nexus phone has been released and will be listed in the next month.
The analyst said that the relationship of Samsung with Google is key to the substantial growth of the smart phone shipments. According to the data, Samsung in the second quarter of this year exceeded Nokia and become the world's second-largest smart phone maker. It shipped 19.6 million units of phones, an increase of 3 million units. In the first quarter of this year Samsung shipped 12 million units of phones. It is said that Samsung welcomes Google's acquisition of Motorola Mobile. This will protect Google and the partner ecosystem.
