Sap Business One Faq Is It For Small Business Or For Somebody Who Is Large?
Helping customers USA nationwide from our locations in Atlanta and Chicago we figured
out that there are myths about SAP itself and its line of products. Small and mid-size businesses are very active in accounting software selection and implementation but they often think that SAP is for large companies. Lets try to organize this small publication in FAQ style where we are publishing popular questions and our answers on them:
Q. Are you official in this blog here?
A. No we are not as it is rather fresh air and opinions from consulting community
Q. SAP MySAP/R/3 All-in-One are expensive in software licenses as well as they require numerous consulting hours to be implemented. In our case we think that it might be better idea to look at something budget oriented. We have heard about QuickBooks, Sage Peachtree and even scaled down version of Microsoft Dynamics GP. Could you comment?
A. Accounting software market requires homework. Entry level packages are typically hosted in proprietary databases (to cut down list price). It depends on your requirements. If you are expecting to do just 1099 filing and basic accounting then you can purchase entry level application. But if you are expecting to get integrated with external systems (for example ecommerce shopping cart, EDI or manufacturing) then you probably need something powered by SQL platform and customization tools
Q. But we are not ready to afford hundred thousand dollars ERP implementation project
A. Fair enough but SAP offers Business One on MS SQL Server platform with SDK openness and readiness to custom Crystal Reporting. This could be considered as entry level for the entrepreneur who already understood that two hundred dollars software is not a best idea
Q. We are trying to select between Microsoft Dynamics GP (it is very sad that they discontinued Small Business Financials product line), Sage, NetSuite and Business One.
A. B1 is positioned to be implemented in the small organization with several accounting system users up to couple of hundred. Dynamics GP is also reliable software as the author was consulting its implementation since 1995 and still does. There are nuances for example B1 supports such technologies as Unicode (Chines hieroglyphs or virtually all world languages). These two applications could be compared in price ranges and they might be close. Microsoft is more diversified in the sense of software offer while SAP is rather concentrating on business software
Q. What is price expectation?
A. It could be purchased with couple of users (one professional is close to three thousand US). But we would recommend it to small and mid-size businesses with budget of ten thousands and up
