Sap Business One Small Business Erp With Growth Potential
Computing industry is leaping ahead and it might be challenging job to pick ERP system which will stay in leading position in the mid-term future
. There are numerous factors to consider including Cloud computing, brand name of the vendor, fitting to your requirements and database platform just to open the list. In this paper we would like to talk about accounting software selection in the form of questions and answers (FAQ). Before you rush to the reading we have to set the expectations that we do not address this paper to programmers. It is rather for IT department manager or business owner in the case of the small company. Lets take the first question:
Q. Is it in the same price diapason as QuickBooks or Peach Tree?
A. No, this software rather should be considered as more flexible and professional directly supported by SAP. The two above that you mentioned are cheaper products and could be considered as starter accounting packages. Every product and consulting firm should be respected but the information should also be free and available for you to help you with homework
Q. What does it mean professional level software? Is it something with nice graphical interface?
A. It is rather about flexibility and open database platform. Cheap product has to maintain its cost on the very low level. This is why of-the-shelf products often deploy proprietary DB in order to cut the need to pay to established DB vendor
Q. We definitely need customization in the sense of adding new fields and tables. But we hate the idea to go into programming project. We have heard that SAP B1 is open for coding in Microsoft Visual Studio with Software Development Kit. Could you comment?
A. Sure. If all you need to do is creating user defined tables and fields for data entry and something like Crystal Reports then there is no need to do software development. All that could be done directly in setup. SDK programming should be considered as alternative to deploy add-on (to be cheaper by just getting few procedures coded). If application has numerous gaps in required logic then you should continue to do your homework and maybe selecting different platform
Q. We like Business One but we have only three thousand dollars budget to implement new ERP system. Is it the option for us?
A. Probably you should consider increasing the budget as it could only cover one professional user without consulting hours. Or maybe stay with what you have and see if the company could grow to afford something like ten thousand
