Save Money and Make Your Own Cheap Tables

Save Money and Make Your Own Cheap Tables

I think we are all pretty much in agreement when I say that furniture could get very pricey based on the style, brand, age and naturally what the piece is crafted from could up the cost. Recently in a decorating quandary I found myself browsing the internet for a couple of cheap tables, just some small space fillers for drinks or flowers. Now when I say cheap tables, I mean affordable not low quality, even if the table needed a bit more work, if I got it for the right price I would have been content. Trouble was, in my quest for a cheap table all the ones I liked were to pricey or needed I whole new makeover! That's when I had the best idea to solve my problem. Why not construct my own cheap tables? They would be inexpensive because all I would have to get is the materials and if I make them right they would not only suite my taste but also be solid and durable.

So now I got to build two cheap tables and I got to do it correct the first time because if I have to run back to the hardware store for more supplies then they no longer are cheap tables. Off I went into the world wide web looking for ideas. I knew I was going to need some sort of plans or designs to carry out what I was trying to achieve. After about an hour on the internet I found a set of cheap table plans that had a design I liked and also told me exactly the materials and tools I will need. With all my tools and supplies I headed home to begin.

First thing I did to make my cheap tables was cutting out the leg's first. I cut the first one at 19 inches then cut the other 7 leg's using the first one I cut as a guide. Remember I am making two cheap tables so I had to double up on all my cuts. My next cut was the table top. It is a little bit of an oval shape measured at 22in by 2ft. I sanded the table top to smooth out the edges then cut out supports to go between the leg's and make the table stronger. After a little bit more sanding, paint and lacquer I ended up with two really unique pieces that didn't cost over 20 dollars.
