This year saw something that no one would have ever imagined

. Schools lifting up the block on social media websites, with students signing up and signing in, hence making it accessible for students to be active over the internet from their own classrooms! Schools of today finally decide to go paperless and adopt the technology. With the changing scenario in the world of the social media hullabaloo, the teachers and students find another platform to reconnect for all academic doubts and queries. The Twitter-enhanced classrooms of today have created a buzz everywhere with students looking for information by following everything that they want to know about. The schools believe that through this medium, the children get a wider push in exploring newer ways of learning. Adding to this, the children will also be learning about podcasting, wiki search and blogging along with developing their keyboard skills and using spellchecker to hone their skills in the English language.

Taking a whole new turn in changing the education systems all over the world, Twitter has truly become the biggest change to primary schooling in a decade. Traditional education in various areas like the chronology of history and mental arithmetic remain, but modern media and web-based skills also now feature in the curriculum of todays school schedule. The schools encourage all students to find a Twitter penpal and regularly converse with them over a period of time to find out about their culture, hobbies, friends, family etc, something they feel is ideal for learning about people from other cultures.

Accepting and adopting to the new norm, the teachers also find a valuable way of using Twitter. Using them as a portal to submit assignments, they feel Twitter provides a platform which gives each student a scope for immediate, constructive and positive feedback, which in turn is essential for the overall progress of the child. The increasing use of students using Twitter to connect to each other in classrooms has also given rise to stronger student communities, which the school administration feels are useful in imbibing certain leadership qualities in children. Some teachers also believe that since Twitter forces you to express what you feel in only 140 characters, framing the sentence in such a way improves the grammar skills of the students, and thus becomes a tool for effective communication.

The teachers at school also find Twitter as a new way to connect to different sources of information and getting views and opinions from all over the world. This in turn helps them to maintain and develop a steady knowledge base, which helps their students directly to stay global in every sense of the word. Twitter also provides a professional development for any teacher, who might need improvement in making the whole experience better.

Shifting the educational base from sonnets of Shakespeare to tweets is a huge leap in the development of the world at large. More and more people see Twitter as an excellent resource for assessing skills that are most vital for learning and living.
