Scientific Careers: Crazy Inventors Or Helpful Professionals

When people speak about scientists they immediately have an image of a crazy absorbed person in a white doctors smock

. Well, something like doctor Frankenstein in his dark laboratory screaming: It is alive! However, this has little to do with reality. What does it mean to be a scientist?

1.Of course, scientific career presupposes working in a laboratory. But you should not work at night. Besides, modern laboratories are equipped with the latest products of scientific equipment. So, it is a great pleasure to work in such laboratories.

2.However, you should remember that such career is not confined to laboratory researches only. You should also write lots of reports, articles, and, maybe, monographs. Someone may think that it is a bureaucratic and unnecessary activity which can be avoided. However, academic, or rather scientific, writing is very important for any scientist. First of all, who can reveal the discoveries better than the person who made those discoveries? Besides, your publications play a significant role in obtaining different grants and awards. Thus, do not be lazy in writing.

3.Besides, scientists never stop self-developing. Apart from reading numerous scientific and scholarly journals, they attend various conferences where they share experience with other professionals.

4.The majority of scientists also participate in the social life of their community. Many of them run specific courses in different colleges and universities. A lot of them are involved in various social projects.

5.Finally, it is impossible to reject that scientists have big and friendly families. They are not inevitable lonely. Thus, most scientists spend much time with their relatives and friends.

Well, now you understand what it means to be a scientist. So, if you are devoted to some science and you know what to do to make this world better, do not hesitate! Scientific career is waiting for you!
