Scientific Studies Find Green Tea Fights Cervical Cancer

Green tea may be able to prevent and treat cervical cancer.

Researchers at the Capital Medical University in Beijing have found that epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a compound found abundantly in green tea, is able to kill cervical cancer cells and prevent them from forming. The authors of the study state that EGCG "has shown its anti-tumor ability and perhaps as potential regimen for cancer patients." (1) This comes as fortunate news for many, as the National Cancer Institute projects that in 2010, over 12,000 women will be diagnosed with cervical cancer and another 4,000 will die from it. (3)

Before people rush out to buy green tea in all its forms, it should be noted that a hot cup of green tea has already lost most of its anti-cancer properties. The compound in green tea that fights cervical cancer, EGCG, changes into another, non-useful form when heated, so "it is considered inappropriate to infuse green tea or its extracts with overheated water." (2) A healthier and easier way to consume green tea is through the use of health supplements.

Gene-Eden is a supplement that includes EGCG in its effective form. The development of Gene-Eden was inspired by Dr. Hanan Polansky's discovery that the cause of cervical cancer is the DNA of latent viruses. EGCG is effective against cervical cancer because of its antiviral properties. Gene Eden is more powerful than EGCG alone, it has four other antiviral ingredients; Quercetin, Licorice Extract, Cinnamon Extract, and Selenium. Hundreds of scientific papers have demonstrated the antiviral effects of each of these ingredients. Many of these papers show specifically the effectiveness of these ingredients in fighting cancer-causing viruses. According to the original authors of the study, "Our results suggested that EGCG may be suitable for prevention and treatment of cervical cancer." (1) If you are concerned about cervical cancer and are impressed by these results, you might want to try Gene-Eden.
