We are now in the depth of the worse Winter weather for forty years.
For a week the weather was so bad that snow ploughs could not do their job.
The Ministry for Transport in Scotland has been forced to tender his resignation for failing to advise motorists of exactly how bad the weather was likely to be, and this lack of information lead to many accidents on the ice and snow, and hundeds of drivers and their passengers were stranded for up to a day in chilling sub zero temperatures, many of whom were ill equipped as regards warm clothes or blankets that could have helped them face the extreme cold in their vehicles better.
People with high blood pressure and heart problems fell ill as the cold gripped.
All of a sudden the temperatures rose dramatically.
It was however a very temporary thaw, as only the very next day the mercury fell so quickly that the author of this article herself witnessed five serious accidents on a busy duel carriageway,in less than five minutes as the temperature dropped so badly that it seemed that within the space of a few moments, the water on the road turned to black ice. The weather made many people go straight home from work and stopped them from going for a drink with friends.
Sitting in the warmth of your own home, you could really try to shake off the terrible conditions outside, and pick up some holiday brochures in your local travel agents on your way home, and forget the cold by looking at these glossy booklets.
Looking forward to a holiday can be the best part.
