The festive season was disappointing due to the bad weather.

This time of year, so looked forward to, was rendered less wonderful than usual due to the most adverse periods of weather in living memory with extremely sub zero temperatures all over the UK.

Many main roads and motorways throughout the length and breadth of the country were completely closed, and in areas where these routes were still open, drivers, were advised by the authorities not to travel unless the journey was absolutely essential.

Even Christmas meals were ruined, as many households had no running water due to the fact that the pipes in their houses were frozen.

Millions of people who were looking forward to going abroad for their Christmas, just for fun or to visit friends and relatives, could not do so as hunrdeds of flights were cancelled from many of the airports, with the leading airport in the world, Heathrow in London, being one of the worse affected with both run ways closed for days on end.

Those wanting to spend Xmas in Paris were hit with severe delays.

There were those who could travel later while others could not because they had to return to work.

Shop owners, hoping for a bumber Christmas, as it was the first since the recession, were very disappointed when this dream did not become the reality, again because of the weather which kept people at home trying to keep warm. The let down of this normally so beautiful season should mean that many will now feel like putting this sad situation behind them and now look forward to Spring and Summer and what they have to offer.

Perhaps a nice new car would be in order or the holiday they missed at Christmas or even a new conservatory to best enjoy their garden when the weather improves.

Everything needs money but homeowners have good ways to raise this.
