Munich is one of the most exciting cities in Europe

, so it is easy to see why so many visitors flock here for weekend breaks. Are you planning on visiting Munich? Hotels are found all over the city so you wont have any problem booking a luxury stay. The bigger issue is what to see during your stay here. There are some excellent attractions located throughout the city, but here are five of the most interesting that will allow you to see the very best of the city.

1. The Hofbruhaus

This used to be the Royal Brewery and has been an important institution in the city since it was founded in the middle of the 17th century. It was during this time that beer became a popular drink in Germany. It is a fun place to visit during your stay to do nothing but eat, drink and watch live music! How much more fun could you want?

2. The Allianz Arena


When Germany hosted the 2006 FIFA World Cup, this stadium was built as one of the main arenas for the tournament. It is also home to FC Bayern Munich. The stadium seats 66,000 people and the atmosphere inside is incredible if you are lucky enough to get in to watch a match. Tours are also available if you are unable see a match, and Munich hotels located nearby are the ideal place to stay if you have pre-booked tickets to a special event.

3. The Alte Pinakothek

This is the place to go if you want to see some fantastic art during your stay in Munich. Hotels located near to the Alte Pinakothek will place you within easy access to explore nearly 700 paintings from a variety of famous artists, including an impressive collection of Rubens.

4. Marienplatz

This is the location of the old wheat market and was previously used for public executions. Now it is simply a pleasant public square where people go to meet up and sit and socialise in one of the numerous cafes in the area. If you feel like a break and enjoying a spot of people watching it is a great place to head to.

5. Olympiapark

As the name suggests, this site was developed for the Olympic Games of 1972 held in the city. For fabulous views, head straight to the observation area in the Olympiaturm, which is nearly 300 metres high. If you are in the city at the right time you may be able to catch a music performance or even a sports event.

This is a wonderful city and if you are here for a weekend or longer there are plenty of artistic, cultural and historical attractions right outside the door of Munich hotels.
