Every time you focus between the eyebrows it invokes a relaxation response; it lowers your brainwave frequency and brings you into a more relaxed state which is very recuperative and reduces stress and all that. But more importantly, it begins to bring energy up and activate your latent faculties of higher awareness, your sixth sense. It also plugs you directly into the very life force within you that is you, the spirit that you are and so it's the way that your mind can behold the presence of spirit within you.
So your meditation is not trying to stop your mind. Your meditation is sitting and allowing your mind and body to behold the spirit that you are and to be conscious of the consciousness that you are.
