Making plans to travel by car presents some good advantages over going by air. It's not too expensive, it affords you a great chance to enjoy the sights which come along as you go, and as you arrive at your destination, you have a conveyance at your disposal, not to mention all that stuff which you somehow were able to fit into your car!

To plan a successful and enjoyable car trip you need to do some advance planning. You should remember to make the time spent in car by your family, a part of holiday fun.
Every traveler gets a fun bag
Make sure that each child has a tote bag which is filled with few of popular hand held games, puzzles, few pencils, drawing books and few of other things which will help maintain their interest and keep them busy during trip. Immediately before you start, you can add a surprise element- a cute toy, game or a puzzle- few chocolates or snacks and some extra batteries.
Remember to take your own pillows
Though you may be planning to stay at some hotel or lodge where you may be provided with bedding, still allow kids to take some pillows with them. This would ensure that they sleep nicely on few nights away from home and also they are able to set for themselves a comfortable place in their car.
Make sure that you stock the car
First ensure that you have washed and cleaned your car properly since your last car trip or any daily errands. Keep rolls of paper towels and a box of tissues and some bags to stuff in the garbage. You may want to keep some light blankets, water bottles and of course, a first aid box.
You should give everyone a job
While you plan your trip, make it a point to assign a job to each of member who will be on car trip. If you plan to take a cooler during the trip, you should place it near the person who is to pass eatables and cold drinks to all. Still you can assign a job to pass on snacks and sandwiches to some other person. Give someone a navigator and a map and ask him to inform all if something interesting comes by.
Car games
There is nothing more interesting and fun than getting into some competition during travel. This also makes the travel time pass so quickly!
