Setting up an Internet business 2

This is the second of a two-part article that introduces newcomers to the possibility of setting up an Internet business. In the first part, the feasibility of doing so, providing the right training is obtained is assured and a basic explanation of how Internet Marketing works is given. In the second part some guidance is given as to what is and is not needed, after which the importance of knowledge and understanding are emphasised together with the rewards that can be obtained thereby.

What you do and do not need

Essentially to set up an Internet business, all you need besides comprehensive and effective training (which shouldn't cost more than $50/ month), is a website, traffic and a product, all of which should cost nothing (besides a computer and access to the Internet). Your financial risk should be so much lower than in the physical world and the rewards are as good. No wonder this is becoming so attractive to people from all walks of life.

Understand the different approaches before you begin

There are many techniques and ways to set up an Internet Business and it helps to know about them from the start, because you can then choose the approach best suited to your needs. I began with something called Article Marketing, which involves creating a website that promotes products that I want to sell, writing related articles and exposing them at no cost to large volumes of traffic. Readers who are interested are then redirected to my website from where I can help them find what they are looking for. This however is just one of many approaches.

Knowledge is important

You need to have a business and marketing strategy, you need advice on building a website and getting traffic to it. That traffic then needs to be converted into customers. While you may be able to work some of these things out eventually, without training and mentoring, you could waste lots of time and end up with outdated techniques and tools in a fast developing world. As an example of what I am saying, just recently someone asked me if one needed knowledge of a certain well-known product in order to build a website. That misconception alone could easily set one back months. Websites can be created in seconds. There are tools that are so powerful that without knowledge of these one will have a lot of difficulty being competitive.

What you have to look forward to

Setting up a business online requires a lot of learning, but it is very inexpensive, low risk, interesting and can be built up over time on a part time basis. Earnings of $10,000 per month are quite achievable. One is able to choose a niche that one is interested in, so it can be quite enjoyable too, one can operate a business ethically and promote products in good conscience and honestly. One is able to be more flexible with working hours, and can work from anywhere that there is a computer and an Internet connection. What more could you ask for? Why not take the plunge and look seriously into setting up your Internet business.
