The UK has a range of well known attractions that will forever be linked with the original Fab Four. The following suggestions include some obvious places that are known by all, as well as some lesser known locations that played a role in the Beatles rise to international acclaim.

Most of the places that are associated with this most famous of bands are in two cities, Liverpool and London. If possible, it would be worth splitting your time between the two. Liverpool would be a great place to start as it was here that the band got together and played their first gigs.

Make sure you plan a trip to the Cavern Club. This venue still hosts musicians today, and is acclaimed as the location were John, Paul, Ringo, and George first started to wow audiences. If you time your visit correctly, you may even be able to take in a tribute show, this will give you a feel of how it must have been all those years ago when the band first took to the stage.

Whilst in Liverpool, you should not miss out on a tour of John Lennon's and Paul McCartney's childhood homes. There are daily tours of Mendips and 20 Forthlin Road, where the two songwriters composed some of the now classic songs loved by people of all ages. Just make sure you book your tickets early, you will not be the only Beatles fans waiting to catch a glimpse of these historical locations.

From Liverpool to London only takes a few hours on the train. Though Liverpool is where the group rose to prominence, it was in London that they became truly global stars. Every Beatles fan would love to visit Abbey road. Apart from visiting the famous studios, still in use today, you can also visit the black and white street crossing that appears on the album cover of the same name.

If you have time, you should also plan a visit to the Apple office (the record label, not Steve Jobs' company), where the band played their infamous rooftop gig. There is also the option of taking in the restaurant featured in the classic "Help" film, and the famous venue where John Lennon made his widely reported "bigger than Jesus" comments.
