Small Business Marketing Tips: Be Willing To Pay The Price
A common error of judgement among new business owners starting out is the understanding about what it really takes to be successful in business.
As small business marketing tips go, this ranks right up there. When you start off in business, certain sacrifices will have to be made when compared to a nine to five job that you just left as follows:
You may be required to spend more time in the business You may be required to bring work home with you You may not be able to switch off from your business when you get home You may have to decline invitations from friends and family to socialise You may have to give up membership at certain clubs You may have to miss out on some other social activities You may have to cut down on alcohol You may have to cut down on TV This is just a sample and please understand this. We work with all clients to ensure that they get this back or at least have the choice to do more of what they want to do. Yet for many, this is their reality. And sadly, this is their reality years and years after the business was established in the first place.
While we would all love to say that you can start an online business in minutes and be making your fortune a few minutes later as you book the first of many overseas holidays for the year, this is not the reality.
The top producers in any online business will testify to a person, that they put the effort in. Not only that, they had to make sacrifices and I would hazard a strong guess that the sacrifices they made were contained in the above list.
But thats what its like in business. I will say thins If you make the sacrifices early in business for as long as you have to, with the right vision and mission for your business, you will build a successful business because you will have to the right work from the outset.
Never plan to be a long hours worker in your business but plan to do it until you have achieved a sustained level of success through a systemised approach to business.
If you have a spouse or partner, it is very important to share your vision and mission with them and get their support for the long term success of the business.
What sacrifices do you think you will have to make to ensure your business success?
How will that affect your life both now and in the future?
Will the long term benefits outweigh the short term challenges?
Are you prepared to make those sacrifices?
