Social Media Commenting Tips: What To Do
Quite similar to blog commenting, social media commenting obviously has the same
functions for one's business or work from home, which include product promotion and traffic generation. The only difference is that one is done on blogs while the other is done on various social media sites like Facebook, MySpace, Reddit, Propeller, Plurk and Twitter. In most cases, the guidelines and tips for posting responses on blogs are pretty much the same for leaving comments on social media sites.
Furthermore, social media commenting requires the same attention and focus you give when you are commenting on blogs as part of your work from home because if you mess up here, it's going to haunt you throughout your online career. Therefore, take this task seriously as well. Your goal here is to build a nice reputation in the social media community, someone who is professional and contributes a lot to the whole site.
Here are some of the stuff you should be doing to maintain that good image and impression of others on you:
->As much as possible, avoid posting negative comments. Throwing some harsh responses that aren't necessary can start a flaming war on a particular post or bookmarked link. That's the last thing you want to get involved with. Know your limitations. Remind yourself that you are here to network and make friends, not enemies. If you have nothing good to say, why don't you just keep it to yourself and spare the comment section some negativity? Doing otherwise won't do you and your work from home any good.
-->Read or check out the post first and also the existing comments before you leave a reply. This is to avoid saying something that has been mentioned already by someone earlier. Folks oftentimes consider that as a duplicate comment and it's not nice to read these duplicate comments over and over again. Not to mention that it disrupts the flow of conversation.
--->Take time to know the people and get familiar with the social media site and everything that's happening in it, be it the discussions, announcements, promos, etc. That way, you will have a good idea and feel of the said site and what issues most people are discussing there or what type of links they really like, something like that. It's just a matter of understanding what's going on in there and learning from what people are posting and commenting on.
These are just three random social media commenting tips and insights. You can find other basic ideas online from article directories, video sites, e-book publishers, blogs, journals and even social media sites as well. The best thing to do is read, read, read, research, research, research and then learn from those information you have gathered. Apply what you have learned and understood in your online business or work from home. This social media thing can't be that hard if you just try to focus on your tasks and goals. Somehow, it's also fun to do because there are times that you would feel like you are only interacting with people and not doing a job. Nevertheless, it's some serious business you should not take for granted.
