The state of the environment.

Carbon emissions and other pollutants have a grave impact on our air, water, soil and therefore crops, animals and ultimately our health. Yet we humans continue to pollute the environment we live in, making our own environment hazardous to our health.

Our energy supply at present day, comes from non- renewable sources such as coal and petroleum and is quickly been depleted yet our growing populations are putting a heavier demand on the energy supply. These cause heavy carbon emissions and is thought to be the reason for global warming. As the emissions create holes in the ozone layer, more of the suns' rays comes in and causes the dangerous warming of the earth.

When you burn these natural resources which took millions of years to form to create electricity, we only convert about a very low percentage of the energy produced into electricity, the other percentage is lost mostly in heat. Electricity produced from coal also produces a great deal of wastage. The wastage is a result of the process used from converting coal into electricity. Nearly all forms of energy produced from non-renewable sources produce waste which is detrimental to the environment. So we can see that non-renewable sources of fuel is not a very effective way to produce electricity. We need sustainable sources of energy.

Solar means from the sun. The sun is our source of solar energy and we have enough energy coming from the sun to meet all of our energy demands. If the energy is utilised properly this could become our one source of energy. Why is that a good thing? Because solar energy is completely safe for our environment and ourselves. It is in constant supply, so it is a resource which will not deplete (at least not for the next million years) and best of all, it is absolutely free! Solar panels are placed on the roofs of homes and buildings and trap the suns' rays converting it into electricity.

What are the economical benefits?

Let us start with the economical benefits for the public. Although the price of the installation of the solar panels are initially high, the benefits received for years to come far exceed the initial cost. And as I have mentioned the government will also pay a portion of the initial costs. Solar panels last for many years and come with a warranty. Solar energy can be used to power anything in your home. Did you know that solar panels cuts your electricity bills by up to 80 percent? And if you live in a sunny climate you can save almost one hundred percent on your electricity bills Whatever solar energy you do not consume can be stored in solar batteries and kept for colder months when there is not much sun.

As you can see, going solar is not just about cutting your costs, but it is also about cleaning up our environment so that we can leave this earth in a better condition for future generations. Invest in solar panels and do your bit for your family and the environment.
