Home owners, landlords or tenants are helped by the Renewable Energy Bonus Scheme-Solar Hot Water Rebate. Their electric storage hot water systems with solar or heat pump hot water systems are replaced with solar heat pump hot water systems.
The Renewable Energy Bonus Scheme-Solar Hot Water Rebate replaces the Solar Hot Water Rebate Program. The rebates of $1,000 for a solar hot water system or $600 for a heat pump hot water system were claimed by eligible households in Australia. The rebate has been applied to system that was purchased and ordered by February 20, 2010.
Applying for Solar Hot Water Rebates has a requirement. It is only available to people who have not previously received assistance to install ceiling insulation through the Home Insulation Program or the Homeowner Insulation Program at this address. The solar hot water system must replace an existing electric storage hot water system. An owner-occupier, landlord or tenant can apply for the solar hot water rebate as long as the dwelling where the hot water system is installed is a principal place of residence. The solar hot water system is installed by a licensed electrician or plumber as required by the standard regulations. The licensed installer must sign your application form to verify that the solar hot water system has been installed in accordance with the relevant building standards and government requirements and the hot water system is eligible for at least 20 RECs at the time and place of installation.
