Solar power is undoubtedly the Earth's primarily existing renewable source of energy

, which is effortlessly proficient of providing most of the present energy demand. Solar power is used in making various solar equipments which can be put to many uses.

The solar power can be used in the conversion of sunbeams into electrical energy. Sunlight is converted directly into electrical energy by means of photovoltaic (PV) cells and indirectly by means of concentrating solar power (CSP). They use the sun's energy to boil water which is then used to generate power and additional technologies.

The second is the solar water heating. Here the heat from the Sun is utilized to heat water in panels present on the roof. Now, we don"t have to use other sources of energy such as gas or electricity to heat water.

Another is the Solar Furnace which uses a vast range of mirrors to contemplate the Sun's energy into an undersized space and helps in producing extremely high temperatures.

The presence of solar cells is also of a great use. They supply the power to run satellites around the orbit of the Earth. These satellites in turn provide us telephones, routing, weather forecasting, the internet and many other uncountable facilities.

The difficulty with solar power is its installation cost but with time the cost is declining due to the learning curve. Particularly, the developing countries do not have enough money to construct such solar power plants, even though various small solar applications are used by these developing nations.

Pros and Cons of Solar Power:

There are several advantages of solar power. These are:

" Solar energy is a renewable source of energy. Even though we are not able to exploit the power of the sun at night or on rainy and cloudy days, but we can always rely on the sun being present there the following day, all set to offer us added energy and light. The solar energy is available to us as long as we have sun. On the other hand, the non renewable sources of energy are once used are gone.

" Solar cells are silent i.e. they don"t produce any kind of noise and extract the solar energy without tweeting.

" Solar energy is non-polluting as well i.e. they are eco-friendly.

" The Solar equipments require little maintenance and last longer. Also they are easy to install. They don"t have any moving parts that are required to be fixed.

" As we know that buying solar energy equipment is expensive initially but in the long run it saves a lot of money as one doesn"t have to pay for sun"s energy.

The following are a few disadvantages of the solar power:

" Solar cells, panels and any other equipment of solar energy are very expensive to produce.

" We cannot create and use the solar energy at night.

We can see that the list of the advantages is longer than that of disadvantages, concluding that solar power is an important and one of the most useful sources of energy.
