Usually booking about three weeks in advance will help you to save some cash, but if you want to book even earlier than this you may be able to make some additional savings. Start planning your trip as early as possible and start looking for flights immediately.
Try to fly during the low season if you can. Unless you have to fly on a specific date for a specific purpose try to pick times of year where flights are generally not quite so pricey.
Of course, shopping about and looking a budget airlines is a great way of saving money as well. You will often find that budget airlines will operate to certain destinations and therefore if you simply book up your trip with then you may be able to save some cash.
