If you just want to do some small jobs such as cleaning crumbs off the table you can get a hand held version like a Dirt Devil. Leakages of liquid onto a carpet can be cleaned up with the water vacs.

You should now realise that you will find what you want as there is such an enormous choice of cheap vacuum cleaners out there.
