Some Of My Favourite Attractions To Visit When You Are In Manchester

Filled with culture and development, Manchester is highly celebrated

, particularly renowned for its music scene, as well as the gay community and acceptance. Whilst larger cities such as London and Brighton might appear to have a stronger appeal than Manchester, there are many things to see there, as well as a thriving economy and some beautiful landscapes.

I have visited the city a number of times, often only for a short time and always find suitable ways to entertain myself for the day. Below are my top attractions to see in this fantastic city.

5. The Whitworth Art Gallery: Costing nothing to enter, this gallery has a collection of over 55,000 items, as well as a number of unique exhibits. About a year ago, My reason for the visit to this gallery was to view an exhibit called 'Kinderzimmer', designed by Gregor Schneider, which was a massive space that had no lighting whatsoever, except for a small, eerily-lit room that contained a dirty and old mattress. This was a very weird but interesting experience.

4. For lovers of museums, the Manchester Museum: Owned and operated by Manchester University, it is completely free-to-enter and has been voted as one of the top university museums in the UK. It contains about 6 million items for viewing, such as stuffed animals, genuine models, memorabilia from a wide range of historical periods and dinosaur bones. An unforgettable museum experience!

3. Manchester Academy: If you are into music and new bands, then Manchester Academy is an absolutely amazing place to visit. The music scene has played a vital role in making Manchester become the cultural epicentre that it has become and this Academy simply reinforces that fact. Boasting a varied roster of bands playing, such as Jimmy Eat World, Example and Groove Armada, this venue always produces an invigorating atmosphere.

2. Trafford Centre shopping mall: Shoppers from across the UK are drawn to the Trafford Centre and the plethora of amazing shops contained within. This shopping centre presents a fantastic opportunity for an average worker from a Manchester office. With an extensive range of high-quality premium shops (as well as independent retailers), this centre is a veritable paradise for an avid shopper!

1. Beautiful greenery. Whilst Manchester might normally be thought of as a very industrial city, it is actually full of amazing greenery and some outstanding parks. Heaton Park is a perfect example of a fantastic attraction, with excellent attractions for children such as an animal centre, you can enjoy the fresh air and relax fully. With a bit of walking, you can also find a number of other parks, some of which offer fantastic facilities for sports.

It can be even more fun to simply explore Manchester without research and finding out your own personal favourites, these five attractions can help you to have a fantastic day out.
