Some Small Changes That Can Make A Huge Difference

We all gain weight for different reasons, it could be anything from getting comfy

in a relationship to the stress of breaking up with a loved one, it could be work related stress or it could be many others only you know the reason why you have put on weight. Mine came on over time, being in a comfy relationship and then gaining more weight during pregnancy which has continued to stay with me these passed eight years, which has also been added to. When I started my weight loss journey I was as large as I was when I was 9 months pregnant only I really was not happy!

However when I made up my mind enough was enough and made the conscious decision to lose weight I found it was easier than I thought it would be.

The real hurdle in losing weight is your desire you have got to really want to lose the weight inside. Once you have made that decision and you are ready for the journey a head nothing can stand in your way and everything will come easily I speak from my own experience.

It is a lot easier than you think to lose weight naturally and change from a not so healthy life style to and healthy one.


The odd bit of exercise can be fitted in here and there, whether it be an extra couple of hoovering sessions a week or walking/cycling to the shops or work instead of taking the car.

Changing the way in which we eat and the time scale around the menu can sometimes be seen as a bit too much effort to go through. However a total change may not be completely necessary at the start of your journey.

Maybe a gradual change to introduce a few differences of dishes, a change of breakfast or puddings could be all you need to give you a start in the right direction and also as an extra bonus start the weight loss process whilst youre just getting used to change as there is nothing like seeing and feeling results fast to get your momentum going!

You could try and cut down on the amount of tea and coffee or fizzy drinks you consume in a day and go for water, pure fruit juices not squash, or fresh fruit smoothies or shakes made yourself and not retail ones which contain sugar, artificial additives and colourings.

If you have cereal for breakfast try a change and opt for sweetened soya milk, rice milk or coconut milk though coconut milk is not a good idea for nut allergy sufferers instead of cows milk or rivita or crisp breads instead of toast.

When baking opt for rye flour or other non wheat based flour instead of white and brown refined wheat flour. Replace sugar with honey, although not a good idea in tea or coffee believe me, but excellent on pancakes, or in cakes and puddings, which can also be sweetened by using ripe bananas.

Cut down on the amount of potatoes and as I have said in previous articles on my website try not to eat a meal heavy on carbohydrates and protein, go for one or the other and bulk out with vegetables or salad.

Use parmesan cheese in sauces and salad toppings, it tastes better fresh rather than dried and used it instead of your usual hard cheese you will find that you use less because the taste is stronger.


Above all eat fresh vegetables, fruit, fish and meat and remember quorn is lower in fat than even skinless chicken. If you cant eat fresh eat frozen but prepare and cook your meals yourself, you can always do as I do and cook the weeks menus on one day and freeze in daily portions ready for tight time schedules.

You can also eat nuts, seeds and dried fruit in their natural state not salted or sweetened, for snacks and nibbles.

Remember go for quality of your food and not quantity believe me when I say anything you cook yourself will taste vastly better than any meals you can buy pre packed and prepared from the supermarket and youll know exactly what youre eating, no hidden fats, sugars or bulking agents.
