Window blinds are commonly made of slats of wood, plastic, fabric, and also metal. To adjust it, you need to trim each individual slat. Here are some steps you have to do to adjust your blinds to your window.

The first thing you have to do is to remove those slats from the housing of the blind. You can simply remove them by pushing and sliding them to the side. In addition, some of them may come with locking mechanism. For this blind, you will need to use a screwdriver. Push between the mechanism and blind to remove each slat.

The second thing you have to do is to measure the window blind from the top down to the desired length. Use a tape measure and mark it. Then, you have to measure each of the slats with the same width and mark it using a pencil. Make sure that you have measured accurately. You can re-measure it if necessary. As you start cutting, you have to make sure that your blind has the same length.

The third thing you have to do is to lay each of the slats on the flat surface, such as floor or flat table. Make sure that you have put linoleum or a scrap piece of wood to avoid damaging your table or floor.

The next thing to do is to align the spot your have marked in the second step in straight line. Use a utility knife and then cut the slat. If your utility knife is too thick, you can use small saw instead. Cut each slat and make sure that the blind has the same length as what you have measured.

The last thing you have to do is to reinstall the blinds. Simply click the blinds back to the locking mechanism or slide them to the groove in reverse order.
