Emergency calls are taken to extremes by some people, and what they individually call an Emergency'. Ford transit vans are stuck in snow, people are left stranded on motorways in their new fords and airports have been closed.

One story recently released was by far the silliest and nonsensical use of the term Emergency and especially when there is over a foot of snow on the ground and emergency services are stretched to their limits currently within the UK due to the adverse weather conditions.

Within the past couple of days a woman has phoned the emergency services because her beloved snowman had been stolen. Within the phone call to emergency services, the lady from Chatham in Kent told the operator that there had been a theft from outside her house'.

She then proceeded to say that she knows the area she lives in is a little rough but she doesn't expect that to happen, and that she hadn't checked on him for 5 hours because she thought he would be safe. When the operator asked if what she was referring to was an ornament', she then said no, a snowman, I made him myself'.

The astounded operator then told the woman that she had called an emergency line, that this was not a serious crime, and that she had wasted their time and probably put someone's real emergency on hold, or stopped them getting through at all. The Chief Inspector of Kent Police had also commented that this call was completely irresponsible.

At a time when we need to rally together unless you have crashed your new Ford, or someone is trapped within their home and can't help themselves- then call the Emergency services, think about your situation first.
