What actually caused the issue to gain much attention is that neither is India in or anywhere near Central Asian region, nor does SpiceJet which is a low cost airline of India cater to any city in Central Asia. Actually SpiceJet only went international in 2010 when it had completed the five years of mandatory domestic flights. Even today, it flies to Kathmandu in Nepal, Dhaka in Bangladesh and Maldives in South Asia. Neither of these places count in Central Asia either!

Nonetheless. SpiceJet does deserve the award because it easily beats any other low cost airline in terms of service quality and punctuality in South Asia and in Central Asian region as well. It started as Royal Airways and during the first 99 days since its establishment, the company offered tickets for as low as INR 99. In order to ensure optimal cost control. SpiceJet has adopted a very innovative approach. Whereas most of the airline companies tend to gather a varied fleet of planes from Boeing and Airbus with some others coming from Bombardier Aviation, the approach of SpiceJet has been to stick to the tried and proven Boeing 737-800. Thus the company can save a lot of money on aircraft maintenance and upkeep.

There are as many as 19 SpiceJet destinations within India. The key operating principle of SpiceJet has been to be a carrier with no frills but high performance. In India the SpiceJet planes fly to Ahmedabad, Srinagar, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Jammu and Hyderabad. All these flights are scheduled to match the best timings in Indian time standards. SpiceJet flights operate from 0455 hrs in morning to 2150 hrs in the evening. This means that it is always possible to catch a SpiceJet flight without any visible deviation from your usual sleeping patterns.

SpiceJet offers free of cost drinking water to all passengers. The on board food is in the form of vegan light refreshments because there are no long haul flights involved. It also allows the passengers to carry and consume their own food provided it is not oily, smell really bad and can create a general mess.
