Starcraft 2 Terran Tactic - Factory Hellion Drop

Are you a Terran player looking for more ways to harass your opponent's mineral line and keep his economy as beaten down as possible

? As you know, doing so can really put you in the lead and help you build a bigger army than your opponents. This little tactic will help you get one of the best worker killers in the game right into the back of your enemy's base.

The goal? To build a Factory fairly close to your opponent's base and lift it off to land in the back where he can't see. Then you build a few hellions and immediately start killing off workers in his mineral line.

This tactic works best on maps where you are close to your opponent like Lost Temple, Metalopolis, Scrap Station, etc. Obviously it works best if you are in the closer positions. But on bigger maps it can also be done. Just send an SCV out to build your factory in a spot where your opponent isn't likely to see. Make sure it's out of view of the xel'naga watch towers and not in direct scouting lines.

In most cases you should wall your base off, as you'll be going for early defense to harass your opponent. Build a barracks like normal then when you're approaching 100 gas send your SCV out to start the factory.

You'll need a bunker to hold off any early pushes, so set up some defense to keep safe. Try to scout around with your early SCV as much as possible to see where your opponent is placing his buildings. Then when your factory is done lift it off and fly it over to his base. Land it in a spot that is close and least likely to be spotted by the other player.

Immediately as it lands build hellions. If you haven't been spotted and can hold out, try to get 3 before you reveal your position. 3 hellions will instantly kill any worker they attack, so it's the best number to have. When you take your opponent by surprise with this trick, especially if their army is pushing against your base you will almost assuredly win the game as long as you can defend.
