Starting your own business in marketing entails more than just a good idea and wholehearted effort

. The mainstream market would gobble you up the instant you become lost-which you will if you don't know what you're doing. The same is true whether you delve into real world marketing or internet marketing-usually another important question aside from the 'how to start' and 'what to sell' questions, is the 'where to start a business' question.

In the World Wide Web, for instance, isn't everything already available in the internet? Where indeed do you start a business? In a niche-that's where. A marketing niche. A niche in the market means a slack in supply for particular goods or services because of lesser demand than is deemed profitable by major merchants. In a nutshell, if there isn't much demand for a product, then why would a major merchant or manufacturer trouble himself with manufacturing it? See, that's the loophole. Though the demand may be minuscule compared to larger markets, if you're one f only a handful that provides that particular product-or better yet, if you're the only manufacturer of that product, why, you have an instant consumer pool that'll keep coming back.

Well, the next issue at hand would be how to find a niche. If you're looking to start business marketing in the internet, it would be best to research about your target consumers first. Try visiting forums and chat rooms to see what they want that they can't find. It's finding the niche that's the first hard step in the process.
