Stay In Scarborough And Discover North Yorkshire

The county of North Yorkshire is one that has such a vast array of different activities

that there is something that can be enjoyed by everyone, irrelevant of age or interests. Due to the sheer amount of attractions that are available to see and experience, it is recommended to take a long break to the county and by staying in the coastal town of Scarborough, you will not only be in an extremely popular seaside resort, but you will be within a short traveling distance to all of the major sights, as well as the ones that are not as popular, within the whole county.

Situated on the east coast of the North Yorkshire county, Scarborough in itself has an array of different attractions that can be visited that will make up a full weeks holiday. Nearby, however, there are hundreds of different attractions that can suit the whole family.

Eden Camp, for example, is in the nearby town of Malton and in 1987 it was transformed from a World War Two Prisoner of War camp into a fantastic museum, with each of the many individual huts replicating a certain part of World War Two. Complete with sounds and smells, Eden Camp is regularly seen as one of the most popular World War Two museums anywhere in the United Kingdom.

Also within a short drive of Scarborough is Flamingo Land, a popular theme park and zoo which has been open to guests for fifty years. Originally only a zoo (in which pink Flamingos were some of the first animals to be housed and are the background behind the name of the theme park), rides were introduced regularly from the middle of the 1980s and now make up the primary reason for visiting the park for most people.

Choosing an accommodation in Scarborough can be a difficult decision, purely for the fact that there is such a varied amount of different accommodation types. Being a seaside resort, Scarborough has an extensive range of caravan parks, offering both static caravans and for people to bring and hitch up their own touring caravans. However, it is the many hotels in Scarborough that are so often chosen for any length of stay in the town.

Scarborough hotels are extremely plentiful and there is, literally, a hotel to suit the individual needs and budgets of everyone, be it a small and family run bed and breakfast for somewhere to lay your head at night or a grander hotel with hundreds of rooms and four or five star service.

Of the many Scarborough hotels that are available, it is the Grand Hotel that is the most popular and recognizable. Located on the South Bay, the Grand Hotel is over one hundred and forty years old and when it was first built it was one of the largest hotels anywhere in the world. Refurbished to the extent of seven million pounds, the Grand Hotel, along with all of the other Scarborough hotels, provides a fantastic base to see Scarborough and all of the surrounding areas.
