This is not the time to try to find a discount rate from a Craig's List ad! Your car is too valuable an investment to hand the keys over to someone without credentials you've checked out. Make sure that the company has a USDOT (United States Department of Transportation) registration. This number will be prominently displayed on the website or in the offices of a reputable transport company. If the company is unable or unwilling to provide this information, look elsewhere for a professional car transport company.

If you have a high-end, classic, or collectable car, you may want to consider covered car transport rather than open car transport services. This will protect the car from weather, dirt, rocks and debris that can scratch or cause other exterior damage. The cost is higher but it can be well worth the added expense for the safest transport of your vehicle. Check to make sure there is adequate antifreeze and fluids in the car if you are transporting it in cold weather.
