What is Search Engine Optimisation: - Acquiring position among top 10 search results

for your website/blog in major search engines for selected keywords (e g. Google, Bing & Yahoo).

Ok, here we go

After you have finished your website design and content, it's time to promote it to all over the world so that large audience can see your website. Larger the no. of people watching your website higher the chance of making money larger money. Search engine optimization (SEO) is a technique by which we try to gain 1st place in Google for the selected keywords! If you managed to get top 10 Google position for good monthly search term, you will notice thousands of people are coming to your website.

Here I'm going to discuss Search engine optimization right from the beginning.

First step: Find out keywords related to your website by using various tools which can easily find on Google, I prefer Google suggestion tool. Select terms/keywords which are closely related to your website and the keywords which you think people will write in Google search bar in order to search your website. Check keyword competition with the help of tools available online (I use Google adwords tool) and select keywords having search count fewer than 2L (for starting). Choose long tail keywords!!

Second step: Once you are done with keyword selection, it's time for on page optimization. Put those keywords in Header, also called Title tag (maximum characters are 70, so be in a limit!). Insert keywords in Meta Keyword and Description sections. Please note that keyword density should not exceed 2-3%. If you have images on your website, use alt tag (putting keywords for images)

Third step: Now it's time for off page optimization. Off page optimization includes, Directory submissions, Social bookmarking, Article submissions, Forum posting, Blog commenting, Classified posting, Press release posting, Link exchange and buying links on other related websites.

Forth Step: keep on submitting to the above said places but in a limited quantity. You can do upto 100-200 submissions per week to avoid penalty by Google for spamming (building links fast). Besides this start promoting website on social media website like Facebook (I love it), Orkut, Myspace, Linkedin, Twitter etc.

Keep on repeating step third over and over again, it will help creating back links for your website and back links will help in pushing website close to 1st place. Do not think of building back links in quick time, do it gradually!

After a month, you will see your website in search results for selected keywords. Keep on doing it, build some quality back links and if you kept doing all in right way, you will see your website at first place pretty soon.
