Snoring is a sound caused by vibrations as a result of obstructed air movement during sleeping

2) Reduce your weight - Excess weight in and around the neck will increase your potential for snoring as it places unnecessary pressure on the airways, not to mention pressure on the respiratory system.
3) Throat Sprays - Throat sprays will lubricate a dry inflamed throat as they will contain an anti inflammatory agent as well as lubricating oils resulting in a freer breathing experience.
4) Stop smoking - Smoking is harmful to your respiratory system as it among other things, increases congestion in turn causing labored breathing and a narrowing of the airways.
5) Avoid Alcohol - Alcohol has the tendency to suppress your breathing drive therefore reducing the effectiveness of a constant airflow to hold the airways open. Avoiding alcohol and other beverages before bed will also allow for a more quality uninterrupted nights sleep as unwanted restroom interruptions during the night are harmful to a quality sleeping pattern
In general, one should also avoid sleeping pills, coffee, and rich food before bedtime as they are all known causes of snoring. Sleeping pills and other relaxants cause drowsiness, which can lead to muscles over relaxing. Such occurrence narrow the air passage way and also allows the tongue to retract towards the back of the throat which and constrict the air passage ways.
Snoring affects between 30 to 45 percent of male and female adults, and like it or not, everyone snores at some point in their lives. Analyzing the reason for your snoring and finding the best method to break the habit is of paramount importance for achieving a good quality of life in general.
