The first thing you need to know about street fighting is that size and strength is not everything
. The easiest way to out fight and neutralize any opponent is to have much more quickness then they have. Being able to have quick strikes will add power to any blow as you will be able to strike an opponent with out them ever knowing what happened. This ends the fight more often times then not just by knock out. The same goes for if they are the ones attacking first. If you are ready for the attack, your quickness will help you evade the blow as well as counter in way that instantly ends the fight. If you do not cause enough damage on the counter, the shear embarrassment he or she will feel from being countered will do one of two things; either they will cower back in shame or they will come at you harder in a flail of easily defended attacks. This is when you can make them look even more foolish as they will be swinging desperately and will leave themselves open and vulnerable to critical blows.
The key to any street fight is pretty basic. Typically, there are eight to ten moves that one can use in a defensive strategy that vary depending on the kind of attack (for instance; straight on punches, around the side punches, upper cuts, kicks, grabs, tackles, head butts, ect.). Although these moves require some practice, before they are able to be used in real time, they are generally very simple blocks that only require quickness. They will not hurt you or the opponent, but often leave the opponent in the vulnerable positions that you will then be able to take advantage of and inflict the necessary damage to end the fight and neutralize the threat.
When an opponent is using more grabs then strikes, this can change the game a little. You can still use the basic blocks and defensive moves as described before, but leaves you to a new game that can involved letting them get a hold of your arm or hand. You may be asking, why would you let them get control? When in reality there are some counters that easily allow you to get control. In a situation where they think they have you, you will have them stuck in a position where you can control them just by applying a little pressure in particular ways. This also leaves the possible counter of a toss or a leg sweep, where you use their progressive movements towards you, against them. This can put them on the ground where a few quick strikes and blows will end the fight, or at least allow you to get away while they are stunned on the floor.
