Stress and Panic and Harmful Self Talk
As a hypnotherapist it is just not rare for us to get to work with people, who require help with panic and anxiety, several clients are already coping with stress their whole life sometimes not really conscious that it usually is destructive on their system. Many people have grown used to live with a constant accumulation of emotional stress, muscle tension and the likelihood of stress and anxiety related complications.
Sadly, people hardly ever take time to release their stress and take some time on their own, take time or make the time to just let go their worries and the accumulated stress from on a daily basis responsibilities. Between working, taking care of their kids, paying the bills for many, relaxing happens seated in front of the television enjoying violent and stressful shows that hold us on the side of our seats and brimming with adrenaline and tensions. Never shutting down, sleep does not really count as the heighten tensions and adrenal level prevents any kind of meaning full relaxation before morning hits. People have a tendency to train themselves to work through the stress as opposed to taking care of creating a stress reduction routine. Some end up having hypertension others with heart problems, ulcers, back problems; the list goes on.
Just what is there to do?
Well as hypnotherapist we teach clients the way to handle these problems and listed here are 3 simple tricks you can begin using right now to start the whole process of letting go.
Set aside some time to de-stress: Every single day make an effort to internalize your thought processes and feelings. Pick a place where you can chill out for several minutes 10-20 minutes more if you need. A snug place that is not really your bed is always best as your mind will not think your there to sleep and you may focus with less effort.
Just imagine: Make time to feel the stress, the anxiety and suppose that it has a form, give it a colour and imagine it inside you, then imagine it disappearing increasingly more, you may imagine a solid bright light coming from the surface of your head and washing the stress from the body as the light moves through it. When you try this, loosen up the different parts of your body as you visualize the stress being cleansed away. Quite a few people do that by putting tension in that part of the body and to release it completely as you forget about the stress. Visualize the "stress colour" being washed away as you do this. Once you're done, imagine a place where one can loosen up fully and completely, perhaps a place you happen to be before or a place you would like to be, real or imagined. Repeat the process.
Alter your mindset: This one may be the long-term part of this process. Take a piece of paper and jot down what you currently do to contend with your stress, write down a list of those things, forget about them and burn the list! If you have been feeling the way described above, nothing you are already doing happens to be helping so instead do this. If something occurs you have no control over, let it go!
A friend of mine lost a bag of food on her way home recently it was worth $12.13 and was packed with stuff like toothpaste, a magazine etc as soon as she realized that she had lost it she started saying things just like, "oh god what am I going to do", keeping in mind that she did not have money problems and that the $12.13 was trivial yet it still got her to stress out as we were on our way back to the store to see if we had forgotten the bag there. It took about 10 minutes to get back to the store and I mentioned how, the $12.13 was not the end of her and how the worse that could happen was already done an over with, not having the bag.
She would agree with me but then try to find a reason to validate her stress getting worse as we got closer to the store. From blaming herself to blaming the employees at the shop her mind was looking for something to do with the stress, a direction to go, up seemed to be the direction of choice as this is what she was used to do.
As we got to the shop she started looking in the car as I went inside to ask about the missing prize! When I came out, she was completely relaxed and immediately told me it was fine that she had found it.
Now why is it that we do that? Because we have done it so much that it may be set on autopilot! Next time something like that happen think for a second, is it from the control? Is your stress going to make you better prepared to fix the situation? If the answer is no, create the decision to breath in, breath out and let it go. Does it stop being unfortunate you lost the bag? No but knowing there is nothing that you will be able to do with stress that will fix the situation will be enough to help you realize that you can let go. Stress is the signal to tell you to act when you need to have to, knowing this, it's okay to let it go when it will not be useful. $12.13 is not a life or death circumstance.
So relax, visualize and police negative ideas and you will get slowly better. In the event you require further advice get in touch with your friendly neighborhood Hypnotherapist.
