Student Life: Do You Want To Join A Fraternity Or Sorority?

Entering college or university, every one wants to find good friends among other students.

There are many various ways to find new friends at college or university. One can find a friend while participating in some extracurricular activity or a student union. Others become real friends with their roommates or group mates. At any rate, students often unite in special organizations to maintain their friendship. These organizations are called fraternities and sororities. Many people remember their fraternity or sorority as the best time of their life, and even more, they stay members of these organizations for the rest of their lives.

The first organizations appeared as a group of people who united according the same political or religious believes. Today the situation is different, fraternities and sororities unite people interested in the same issues. These issues can be absolutely different, from music tastes to clothing.

Fraternities and sororities are often called Greek letter organization as they name themselves with two or three letters of Greek alphabet.

What are the positive sides of these organizations?

1.First of all, fraternities and sororities are associated with friendship, loyalty and devotion.

2.They unite people with the same social and intellectual interests.

3.Fraternities and sororities often organize different events for their members like dining and residence service or various secret parties for the members only. Being in the fraternity is interesting and fun.

4.Some fraternities are more conservative. They are non-smoking or remain alcohol-free.

5.Many sororities and fraternities are concentrated on the academic pursuit, volunteering activity or charitable objectives.

6.When you are in the fraternity, you should follow different traditions, rituals that can be rather fun. Sometimes there is even their own terminology and the motto that is scrambled in the first letters of the name of the organization.
