You heard a lot about students unions. You know some common information about these organizations. However, now you decide to join some union to become a full-fledged student. You want to become one of those who try to improve the world. How to do this? 1.Learn. First, you should find out what unions your school has. You may find this information on your school site. In fact you will be invited to every union, so collect the entire information about these unions. What are their objectives and values? What students have already joined the union? It can be also useful to read some historic facts about the unions. 2.Analyze each union. Be honest. If you do not support some ideas cherished in this or that union, do not join it even if it is the most popular. You should feel free in the student organization you are going to choose. Moreover, do remember that you should be an active member of the union, which is impossible if you do not share the same views. You should try to make your union ideals come true, and this is only possible if you have the same ideals. 3.Join. Finally, do go to the union administration and say that you want to become a part of their organization. Be serious and convincing if necessary. You may need to prove that you deserve being in this club. Do it: mention your academic, sport achievements, express your opinion on different issues. However, it is not enough just to join some union and attend the meetings. You should participate in every activity, any debate. Present your ideas and try to realize them. A student union is not a place for just having fun, be responsible and helpful. If not, why to join any organization?
