Stun Guns and Tasers, which one is right for you

Personal protection weapons are becoming increasingly popular as ordinary law abiding citizens are taking control and preparing themselves for worse case scenario's. People are just simply tired of becoming victims of senseless crimes and they know that having a self defense weapon is a vitalnecessity when they come face to face with an attacker. In this article we will discuss the differences between stun guns and tasers as many people get the two mixed up.

Stun Guns use high voltage and low amperage to temporarily disable an attacker for several minutes. The stun gun does not rely on pain for results. The energy stored in the stun gun is dumped into the attacker's muscles causing them to do a great deal of work rapidly. This rapid work cycle instantly depletes the attacker's blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid. In short, he is unable to produce energy for his muscles, and his body is unable to function properly. The stun gun also interrupts the tiny neurological impulses that control and direct voluntary muscle movement. When the attacker's neurological and muscular system is overwhelmed and controlled by the stun gun, he loses his balance. Should the attacker be touching you, the current will not pass to your body!

Tasers are a non-lethal, self defense alternative that is almost 100% effective. It combines the injury reducing benefits of traditional stun technology with a quantum leap in stopping power via new Electro-Muscular Disruption (EMD) technology. In police studies, TASER electronic control devices have a higher instant incapacitation rate than a 9mm handgun. It uses replaceable cartridges, containing compressed nitrogen, to deploy two small probes which are attached to the main unit by insulated conductive wires. Voltage travels through the wires and overrides the central nervous system providing incredible take down power. Most Tasers also double as a stun device once the cartridge has been removed.

In short, stun guns are easy to carry, concealable, and you don't have to register one. They are great for close proximity attacks and must be held against the attacker for several seconds in order to be effective. Tasers are also an outstanding weapon to have when you recognize a threat from a distance. You don't have to get up close and personal with your attacker, you simply stand back, aim and shoot.
