Sunglasses: Keeping The Sun Out Of Your Eyes

Chromophores absorb light energy. If too much UV light is absorbed, eye structures such as the cornea, the lens and the retina can be damaged.

The human eye is a crucial part of the senses. Without vision the world would be a dark place of sounds, sensations, tastes and smells that one could never fully explain. Protecting something so vital from damage from the sun is as easy as putting on a pair of sunglasses.

Protective eyewear (such as Ray Ban sunglasses) is beneficial to those who are working with or those who might be exposed to ultraviolet radiation, particularly short wave UV.

Protective eyewear, sunglasses, helps prevent damage to the eye from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. While looking directly into the sun is never recommended, even indirect sunlight can cause damage through prolonged exposure. Even a cloudy day on the beach can have you squinting without a good pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes. Also, sunglasses are worn as part of the uniform of many people who work outdoors in the sun. Police officers, forest rangers, construction workers and even golfers are often seen with a pair of sunglasses on their faces.

Sunglasses are protective, but they dont have to be drab.

Sunglasses are easy to obtain and wear. Designer sunglasses have turned something as mundane as protective eyewear and turned them into fashion accessories that not many people are seen without. Why not protect your precious eyes and look good at the same time? Hollywood heavyweights and heiresses have all gone gaga over the newest and hottest in designer eyewear. They dont know it, but while they are so busy looking good, they are also protecting their eyes from future vision problems, and even vision loss.

Sunglasses started out as dark tinted glasses for use with people who lost an eye, had horrible eye scarring or where blind, but eventually people realized that sunglasses were great at keeping the pesky rays of the sun from ruining their walk in the park, or that perfect view of the sea. Wearing sunglasses can help you see better while driving, while hunting, while playing sports or while keeping an eye on your kids in the back yard.

Sunglasses protect your eyes but they also make doing things outdoors much easier when you can see, everything is easier.
