Ladies, guys will put up with a lot. We will put up with a lot of stuff because we think there might be some romance somewhere down the road if we are patient enough. But believe it or not, there are ways to actually make a man mad, mad enough that it could effectively put the kibosh on your relationship for a good long while, if not permanently.
The fact that men and women communicate differently is well documented, but just as certain is the fact that both sexes tend to do certain things guaranteed to drive the other nuts. Knowing what behaviors trigger what results can help you know what you need to work on, curtail, cut out, or enhance (whatever your inclination might be).
Trying to change your man into something he is not. This is probably the most common culprit in any relationship destroyer. Your man is what he is. My ex wife was amused and charmed by many of the same characteristics that she went on to spend years trying to change in me. Once you start trying to fundamentally transform who he is and what makes him who he is, then you are headed for a world of hurt.
Comparing him to others. This is a huge no no, unless he is coming out on top in the comparison. If you think about it though, there is no good reason to compare your man to anybody else for ANY reason. Celebrate him for what he is, and who he is. Learn to appreciate all the things that make him a man.
Constant nagging. To say that men don't like women who nag is kind of like saying the sun came up this morning. A gentle reminder to take out the trash or mow the yard isn't beyond the pale, but continual nagging and harping on a given subject is. Nagging earns you no points with your man and yields nothing when it comes to results. Period.
Make fun of or put down his interests. Every man is going to have a hobby or a pastime that he enjoys. Belittling that hobby will score no points in his eyes. My hobby is model rocketry, which my ex wife put down almost constantly and refused to go to any rocketry related events with me. It made me reluctant to want to share in any of her interests. The lady I am currently seeing not only encourages me in my hobby but goes with me to rocket launches and other events; she initially viewed it as a chance to be together, but ended up discovering that she really enjoys it. So take a chance on your man's interestsyou may surprise yourself.
Unreasonable jealousy. Now of course no woman wants a man with wandering eyes, but let's get real.men are visual creatures, and a pretty woman will catch our attention. We will look in appreciation of the female form. That is NOT a judgment call on you, your appearance, your sexiness, or your personality. It does not mean that you no longer have our attention or that we do not love you. It's merely the way we are wired. Not, that being said, if it goes beyond an appreciative glance and crosses the line into outright ogling, you have my permission to knock us into the middle of next week.
Backstabbing him. Gossip is never a good thing, and if you are talking trash about your man behind his back to your friends or his, it is unforgiveable. And if you don't think it won't get back to him, you are sorely mistaken. Any comments you make to third parties about your man should be nothing but positive. We should always brag on the people we love.
Not listening. Believe it or not, the world doesn't revolve around you. Men aren't known for talking things out, so if he is in the mood to chat, give him the time. Not doing so or jumping in with your own story at the first opportunity will send the signal loud and clear that you do not care about his needs. Listen without prejudice or judgment to whatever he is going through.
So on behalf of all men, we make the simple request.don't do any of the above, and we'll get along fine.
